Fashion Photography?

I'm a young student, hoping to enter London College of Fashion to pursue my dream of becoming a fashion photographer. My question to you is, what do you think of fashion photography as a career?

1. What I think of fashion photography is irrelevant. What do you think of fashion photography? Photography is a fascinating career as is, but you have to love your subject matter. If fashion is a passion and photography is a vocation, then fashion photography will be a great career choice. The best way to decide would be to apprentice for someone first. Then you'll get a taste for the industry and decide as to whether you would like to pursue it.
2. its a start... taking photos of what you want and how you want... thats your gift and do it..
3. If it's your dream go for it. But, first, let me remind you that if you're dreaming of fame and glamour, you may need to think a little harder about it. I am a photographer and I know first hand that very few of us achieve fame. As for the glamour part, it is mostly in the eye of the outsider. A job is a job. But if you're dreaming for the right reason, sure, go for it, Photography is fun and it's definitely not 9-to-5.
4. I agree with everybody so far. It's more important what you think about it as a career move. Do your research and see what the job outlook is for fashion photographers and potential income, that way there's no surprises going in. Also, a job is a job. I too worked as a photographer (and still do on my own) and really, once you make it about a paycheck, it's just work. But, if you can enjoy doing it, it's better than doing something you don't like to do. Best wishes for the future.
